A Mirror of You Isn't That Odd?
If there was a mirror
That kept the images that appeared in it, but still let them go physically
I'd bring it close to your face, right when you were laughing
And preserve that memory for many, many years to come.
If I accidently shattered the mirror
In my fits of rage
Over things I couldn't solve
I'd spend my whole lifetime
Putting it back together
So I could see you before I died.
And if blood from the jagged cuts in my fingers and palms
Dribbled against your reflection
I'd take hours to wipe it away, just so your face was perfect again.
You'd be everything to me
Even if all I had left of you was one simple picture in a mirror
Of your brightest moment
Before I was the one you didn't love.
I've lost my trust in you
But maybe that little mirror
Would make it a little easier
To let you go.
